The Family Benevolent Fund

The OCDSA / Family Benevolent Fund was started by Deputies who wanted to assist fellow First Responders and the Citizens of Oakland Co. November 30, 2021, will be a day our Brothers and Sisters will not forget. The Oxford Highschool experienced an act of violence that no one would ever forget (a couple of our board members were the handful of Deputies who responded minutes after the first 911 call). We walked students and staff out and tended to those hurt physically, emotionally, and mentally. That day affected everyone in the Oxford Community.

We decided that we wanted to help with the healing of the community, in a long-term way. We designed the “Oxford Strong” lapel pin and began selling them. The response from the community, other law enforcement agencies, and around the country was overwhelming. We raised funds to give back to the Oxford Community long-term. Due to the generous donations, we are able to provide scholarships for graduating students from Oxford High School. One of the stipulations is the student must have been an enrolled student at the Oxford District Schools on November 30, 2021. This means that if you were a kindergartner on that date and graduate from Oxford H.S. 12 – 13 years later, you could qualify.

We are grateful and humbled by this opportunity to serve the community and remember those who lost their lives that tragic day.
