Lori A. Przymusinski, R.N., MSN

Lori A. Przymusinski first became interested in the nursing profession while caring for her mother, Barbara Yarema, during a prolonged illness. She entered Oakland Community College as a non-traditional student, and earned her Associate in Applied Science in Nursing in 1990. She went on to complete her Bachelor and Master degrees while working as a Registered Nurse at Beaumont Hospital.

Lori returned to OCC as an adjunct faculty member in 2001 and full-time faculty member in 2006. She has been tapped for progressively greater leadership responsibilities as Associate Dean and then Dean of Nursing & Health Professions, Dean of Campus Affairs for the Auburn Hills campus, and as of 2017, interim Vice Chancellor for Student Services.

Her work as a nurse and at OCC has given her a special appreciation for the health professionals who form the care team, together with doctors and nurses. Her hope is to help students in these “small but mighty” programs at OCC to complete their degrees and enter the workforce as well-prepared, compassionate caregivers.

She writes: “Our graduates successfully practice in local area hospitals when they complete their education at OCC. I have seen their lives changed, and those of their patients, as a result of this opportunity. My life also changed as a result of my experience as an OCC graduate.”

Lori and her husband Dean are grateful for the opportunities OCC has opened for them. These scholarships are an expression of that gratitude, and of their desire to help OCC students succeed in the health professions.
