Joyce Keil Zurel memorial (by her friends and colleagues)

As a dedicated Library Technician, beloved friend and respected co-worker, Joyce Keil Zurel worked with students and always encouraged them to do their best. This scholarship in her name acknowledges future Library Technicians who are committed to excellence in their field and student success.

She began her career at Southfield Campus in 1998 and worked at the Auburn Hills Campus until her untimely death in May 2007. Joyce was committed to providing students with the best service, and would spend quite a bit of time making sure students received the correct information to meet their needs. Joyce also had a particular flair and talent for creating book displays.

Joyce’s convictions and work ethics will remain alive through the students honored with a scholarship in her name. Funds for this scholarship will ensure Library Technician students will have every opportunity to realize their potential. And, through their education and professional growth, the graduates of the OCC Library Technician program will impact libraries throughout the state of Michigan and the world in which we live.
