Dr. Kathleen Lorencz

James Lorencz, the uncle of retired OCC Business faculty member Dr. Kathleen Lorencz, is a prime example of the valuable contributions entrepreneurial immigrants make to our country’s economic growth and their communities.

Traveling to America from Hungary with his family at the age of nine in the early 1900s, through hard work and a strong work ethic, he became a successful businessman. Reinventing himself as a worker in our society, he first started as a farmer, then as a car salesman, and lastly as a residential builder in the Downriver area. He was civic minded serving on local government committees and was a very active member of his church. He was a wonderful husband to his wife Emma and father to his twin daughters Emma Mae and Mary Jane.
