Dr. Gordon F. & Mrs. Patricia S. May

Following a fifteen-year career in private industry, Dr. Gordon F. May worked at Oakland Community College for 27 years. In 1987, he became the founding director of the OCC Pontiac Center, and later served in key leadership positions, including presidencies at the Highland Lakes and Auburn Hills campuses. During that time he also taught in the Educational Leadership doctoral programs at Wayne State University and Oakland University. He retired from OCC on December 31, 2013, and subsequently served four years as president & CEO of Baltimore City Community College.

Mrs. Patricia Shipp May worked at OCC as a Counselor for 30 years, retiring on June 30, 2017. During her tenure at the College, she was instrumental in developing the Pontiac Summer Program, which gave Pontiac high school students a head start on their higher education. Mrs. May is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and active in her church.

The Mays raised two successful daughters, Dr. Amira May Woodruff and Dr. Carissa May Iheanacho, and have one granddaughter, Bella Cruz.
